Igniting the stage with electrifying rhythms and uplifting melodies, Toria Mason & the Burning Fire Band bring a fusion of Caribbean zouk, soca, calypso, Latin rhythms, and Afro beats. Led by powerhouse vocalist and songwriter Toria Mason, their music pulses with infectious energy, celebrating culture, joy, and connection.

With deep roots in multicultural soundscapes, the band features an African drummer, an Indonesian lead guitarist, an Australian bassist, and percussionists of Afro-Caribbean French and English heritage—including an English female backup singer also on percussion. Guided by Artistic Director Dominique Cisse, the band’s dynamic arrangements and vibrant storytelling invite audiences to dance, feel, and celebrate.

Toria Mason - Lead singer

Toria Mason is a soulful singer, songwriter, and performer from the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, QLD. Her musical journey began with heartfelt folk songs—rich in raw emotion, healing lyrics, and powerful vocals. Today, she leads Toria Mason with the Burning Fire Band, where those roots have blossomed into a vibrant fusion of Afro-Caribbean rhythms, zouk, soca, calypso, Latin beats, and pure fire.

Her original music now pulses with rhythm and joy, inspired by her love of movement and cultural connection. As president of FESTURI – a Multicultural Celebration, Toria celebrates community through music and dance, bringing people together through the universal language of rhythm.

Toria’s mission? To sing her heart out around the world—and have a damn good time doing it.

Dominique Babacar Cisse is a globally seasoned musician, artistic director, and cultural visionary. Born in the Caribbean and raised between Martinique, France, and Senegal, Dominique blends Afro-Caribbean and African rhythms with a deep passion for cultural storytelling.

He has been the driving creative force behind FESTURI – a Multicultural Celebration for over two decades, shaping its artistic soul and nurturing its diverse talent.

As the Artistic Director of Toria Mason with the Burning Fire Band, Dominique brings his rich musical heritage and rhythmic mastery to the stage—crafting an unforgettable sound that moves bodies and hearts across generations and cultures.

Stephen Ewart - Bass

Stephen Ewart is a seasoned multi-instrumentalist with over 55 years of musical experience.

He began his journey in 1978 on trombone and went on to perform with iconic Aussie acts like Jo Jo Zep and Kids in the Kitchen during the vibrant ‘80s scene.

A true musical chameleon, Stephen plays trumpet, trombone, guitar, bass, keyboards, and more recently, tenor and alto saxophones. For the past 15 years, he’s been a key member of Sunshine Coast band Canta La Tumba, while also lending his talents to big bands like Rocus Big Band and Ye Olde Brass Band in Redcliffe.

Now laying down the groove on bass with Toria Mason and the Burning Fire Band, Stephen brings soul, rhythm, and a lifetime of sound.

Yuri Jo - Lead guitarist

Yuri Jo is an Indonesian-born jazz guitarist with a rich musical journey spanning Indonesia and Australia.

Trained in jazz at several Australian universities, Yuri has graced stages at international festivals like Java Jazz and Jazz Gunung. His debut album, Space Between Building, was a collaboration with renowned jazz musician Dwiki Dharmawan.

Yuri's style seamlessly blends soulful R&B grooves with sophisticated jazz melodies.

Known for his wit, he often says, "I talk to my guitars—it's okay as long as they don't talk back."

Currently, Yuri brings his expressive guitar work to Toria Mason and the Burning Fire Band, adding depth and rhythm to their vibrant sound.

Kojaja Osman is a dynamic drummer and percussionist whose rhythms pulse with the heartbeat of Afro-Cuban, Latin, and jazz traditions.

Originally from Nigeria, Kojaja has become a vibrant presence in Brisbane's world music scene.

His drumming journey has led him to perform with diverse ensembles, including the reggae band Bussatones and various Afro-Cuban jazz groups.

Known for his deep groove and expressive playing, Kojaja brings both precision and soul to every performance.

As the rhythmic backbone of Toria Mason with the Burning Fire Band, he infuses each song with energy and authenticity, making every beat resonate with life and passion.
